Funeral for family murdered in DC was filled with tears, grief and unexplainable tragedy
Hundreds of mourners lead by Savopoulos sisters (daughters of Savvas and Amy Savopoulos) paid their respect Sunday night to the three slain members of this family who were found dead in their burned home in Northwest DC on 14th May along with their housekeeper Veralicia Figueroa.
When their bodies were found, their house was on fire. Police believe the victims were kept hostage and threatened before they were murdered.
Funeral of Savopoulos father, mother and son was held today in St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Northwest D.C.
According to NBC Washington, on that night when Savopoulos family was kept hostage, pizza was ordered from their home and later on during investigations (only person charged so far) Daron Wint’s DNA was found on the pizza. Next morning someone delivered $40,000 to their doorstep. Savvas Savopoulos was CEO of American Iron Works and this cash was withdrawn from an account of his company.
Authorities say that they believe others were also involved but so far only Wint is charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of the Savopoulos family and Veralicia Figueroa. Investigations are underway and police will soon find out whoever did this and will bring them to justice.
